Abba nominated for Hall of Fame
Abba, LL Cool J, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kiss have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the US.
Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith told US music magazine Billboard that it is a "real honour to be nominated".
Acts must have released a single or album 25 years prior to their nomination to be eligible.
The chosen artists from the list of 12 will be inducted during a ceremony on 15 March in New York.
Ballots will be sent to more than 500 music experts who will decide on the nominees.
Darlene Love, Jimmy Cliff, Donna Summer Laura Nyro, The Chantels, The Stooges, Genesis and The Hollies complete the list.
Smith added: "Obviously the Hall of Fame has excellent musical taste. It’s a real honour to be nominated in our first year of eligibility."
In April Metallica and 1980s rap act Run DMC were inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They were joined by British guitarist Jeff Beck, soul singer Bobby Womack and doo-wop group Little Anthony and the Imperials.
